Morning Routine: 7 Rituals for an A+ Day

Nowadays, in the fast-paced environments that most of us live, it has become almost mandatory to start our day in the right way in order to be productive and get energized. We have apps, books, videos, articles, trainings and many more. But too many options and possibilities might get us confused. So we have made up with 7 rituals for your morning routine to help you kick-start your day.

Make the 5 Seconds Rule your no.1 morning routine

Waking up in the morning can be difficult, especially when you love the warmth and cosiness of your home and staying in bed for 5 more minutes. These harmless 5 more minutes are tricky and can easily turn into half an hour or even 1 hour.

That’s why, the motivational speaker Melanie Robbins came up with the idea of the 5 second rule. The rule has 3 main steps: (1) set the alarm clock the night before and leave the phone in another room, (2) in the morning, once you hear the alarm, open your eyes, throw the bed sheets and start counting backwards, 5-4-3-2-1 then (3) jump out of bed.

You know what you have got to do tomorrow morning, right?

Practice Gratitude

With your eyes wide open, pause for a moment and think of 3 things that you are grateful for, each morning. So you think, so you feel. Today is a new day. Today you get a new chance to see the light of the sun, to smell the aroma of fresh coffee, to feel the water flowing over you on a quick shower, to recreate yourself.  Your thoughts can carry you a long way. Use your thoughts to create a great reality, your reality!

Simply be grateful for life and the small things that make it so beautiful.

Stay Away from Your Phone

If you are like the majority of people, first thing in the morning, you grab your phone and check your email, your calendars, and anything else that is part of the work day. Although it is quite tempting to get on our phone first thing we open our eyes, the brain needs some time to come back to reality and adapt before throwing itself into the world. Give yourself a couple of minutes to reconnect and just BE. Exist!

Hydrate Your Body

Hydration is the base if we want to have an A+ day kick-start. One of the most simple things that you can do as part of your morning routine is to drink water. After a good sleep, drink a glass of water. If you are among the coffee lovers, always keep water next to your coffee. (Americano doesn’t count) In the long run, your heart, as well as your stomach will be grateful to you.Exercise as part of your morning routine

One of main substances that our bodies produce in order to create the ‘feeling good’ mood is endorphin. Exercising produces endorphins.

That’s why movement is the most important activity that you can start your day with. Your vitality is given by how much you move and how much you move gives the quality of your life and your cognitive health. “Mens sana in corpore sano.” (Healthy mind in healthy body.)

However, keep in mind that any form of body movement can become part of your morning routine. Movement is great for the body so feel free to choose what makes you feel good. Don’t be afraid to start small.

Take a Good Breakfast

Eat something that makes you feel good instantly. When you prepare your breakfast, don’t focus only on the recommended foods for busting your level of energy, but select from those, the ones that work for you.  Remember: You are what you eat. Treat yourself right from the very first moments of the day!

Make a morning routine out of Breathing

Let’s go back to the basics. Beyond everything are YOU. Before anything, take a couple of moments to reconnect with your inner self. Breathe deeply and slowly. Focus on each breath at a time. Breathing consciously helps you take control over your body. At the end, smile with all your heart. A new beautiful and productive day lays ahead of you.

Morning routines are not magic wands, but can definitely make a change.
